In more detail:
Once its four cars were raised, the undercarriages and engines were completely overhauled at Trenitalia’s workshop in Ancona.
Once the furnishings, windows and various systems were dismantled renovation work on the carpentry, supporting structure and high/medium and low voltage systems was carried out throughout the train.
Other interventions to update the onboard systems and traction devices were also carried out. State-of-the-art supply converters, able to meet all on-board needs and guarantee around 50% extra power for reserve, were installed to run on-board equipment, air conditioning and lighting systems and battery recharging.
Passenger car n. 3 houses a refreshment area equipped with modern facilities in keeping with the original aesthetics of the time.
At around the same time, the original seating was being restored and refurbished. The ordinal shape was kept but the seats were reupholstered and recovered. Moreover, the Harlequin’s safety systems were ungraded and a new Cab Signalling System (SCMT – Sistema Controllo Marcia Treno) was installed as was a new central locking door system.
